Mad Men Season 3 Thoughts

I am not going to go into a full recap of the season, or anything like that but I just want to focus on the things that truly stood out for me this season.  First as always Jon Hamm was incredible as Don Draper.  The acting overall is beyond outstanding, I never question whether what I am seeing portrayed could happen because they all make me believe it can.  The disintegration of the Draper marriage seemed to bring out more fan dislike for Betty than Don, which is odd considering his history.  The courtship between Betty and Henry seemed quick but understandable considering she discovered Don’s true identity.  The most shocking moment of the season was of course, Roger in black-face.  I think I nearly choked when this scene came on, but I definitely felt it fit Roger’s character.  Pete proved to be one of the most complex characters on the show.  From his interactions with the elevator operator to the possible rape of the nanny, he is completely perplexing and at times sympathetic.  I loved the growth of Peggy this season as well, moving into the city and standing up to Don, while carrying on an affair with Duck, she was a perfect symbol of the societal changes going on at the time.  I was thrilled to see Joan back at the end and it looks as though she will be a large part next season.  I have so much more it’s unfathomable that this was only 13 episodes.  At times it feels like nothing happens but when you look at the end result their world has been complete turned upside down.  I loved how the season ended, I felt as if Don finally found his true family.  It was a perfect finale.  Let me know what you think…
