Photos from Lake Tahoe and Reno

Travelog Reno day 1

Well my journey from NJ to Reno began pretty much without a hitch. We arrived at PHL airport in plenty of time, in spite of I-95 being shut down in one direction and a multiple car accident in the other direction. The security line was almost empty and went very quickly. I have to say PHL security has become much more efficient and organized the past few years, kudos to them. We flew Southwest , bags fly free, and were able to grab the two seat exit row.
There was this strange older woman behind me who had to put her purse under the seat next to me, because there was no seat directly in front of her. First the flight attendant had to come over twice to tell her to store it before take off and then she bugged several times to not let her forget it or let anyone take it. Who the hell is going to steal a purse in plain view at her feet in a closed aircraft? Anyway once we changed planes in Chicago I was rid of her and the flight from Chicago to Reno was quite uneventful.
We are staying at the Harrahs here because it is a block away from the National Bowling Stadium, where we are going to participate in USBC Nationals. It’s been about three years since I’ve been here and the place must have been decimated by the economy. The casino is nearly empty and there were no table games open at all. Generally we stay up in Tahoe and just drive down for the day or two that we bowl. This year is a short trip, since we did not bring our son with, so we are spending most of the time in Reno.
Hopefully the town will liven up as the week goes on but I really don’t hold out hope. I am looking forward to Tahoe on Wed and Thurs and will get to take plenty of photos and maybe do some sledding!
